Half European and half Asian, Istanbul is rich in culture. Throughout the history, the city served Roman, Latin and Ottoman empires as a capital.

With over 15 million habitants, Istanbul is ranked as the fourth largest city in the world and the most populous city of Europe.

Here is a list of places to visit in Istanbul:

1. The Sultan Ahmed Mosque (Blue Mosque)

Built on the 17th century, Blue Mosque still functions as a mosque and attracts millions of tourist every year.

2. Galata Tower

Byzantium emperor Anastasius built this on 528 as a lighthouse.

1500 years later, it is an Instagram star with hundreds of its pictures being shared everyday.

3. Hagia Sophia

Once a church, then a mosque, now Hagia Sophia is only a museum.

Both its exterior and interior is picturesque.

4. Karaköy District

A trending harbour area, Karaköy is full of new-age coffee shops, young designer clothing shops and family run businesses inside of old Ottoman architectures.

5. Balat District

With its narrow streets and colourful buildings, Balat has been a very popular Instagrammer attraction in the recent years.

6. Otağtepe Fatih Korusu

On the Asian side of the city, this spot is perfect for a great Bosphorus shot.

7. Ortaköy District

For a beautiful Ortaköy Mosque and Bosphorus Shot, visit this seaside neighbourhood.
